Raisina Dialogue: Greece PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis says, India is a great power on the world stage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 21 Februray inaugurated the 9th Edition of the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, joined the Inaugural Session as the Chief Guest.

In his keynote address at the event, the Greek Prime Minister lauded India as a significant power on the global stage and an essential ally in the pursuit of peace and security. He highlighted India’s role as a rising force within the G20 and as a leading player in the battle against climate change. He called on the Indian Prime Minister to further strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

He reflected on the occasion as a moment to celebrate the robust partnership between Greece and India. He described it as an alliance between two allies, two nations that share similar values, and a partnership between the world’s oldest democracy and the world’s largest democracy.

Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis remarked on India’s status as the world’s fastest-growing major economy and Greece’s recent achievements as one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe. He underscored mutual investment as a key goal of their bilateral relations, noting India’s significant investments in Greece’s infrastructure, including the construction of a new airport. He also pointed out that the volume of bilateral trade between the two nations is on an upward trend.

External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the unique responsibility of India and Greece, as Civilizational States, to contribute to the evolution of the contemporary global order. He not- ed that both countries tend to take a long-term view of challenges and a considered approach to opportunities. Dr. Jaishankar mentioned that as India expands its global presence, Greece has become a favorable destination, highlighting India’ growing interest in the Mediterranean region as a crucial aspect of its ascent. He stated that the India-Greece partnership would serve as a pivotal anchor.

The correspondent reported that the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, is dedicated to ad- dressing the most pressing issues facing the international community. The theme for this edition is “Chaturanga: Conflict, Contest, Cooperate, Create.”

The three-day Dialogue witnessed participation from representatives of over 100 countries, including Ministers, former Heads of State and Government, Military Commanders, Industry Leaders, Technology Experts, Academics, Journalists, and Scholars on Strategic Affairs.
