Gaza: On 4th January 2025, Israel has ordered the evacuation of two major hospitals in northern Gaza, the Indonesian Hospital and Al-Awda Hospital, as fighting in the area intensifies.

These hospitals are crucial for treating thousands of civilians, providing life-saving care during the conflict. The Palestinian Ministry of Health warns that closing them could have devastating effects, especially with ongoing shortages of medicine, medical supplies, and electricity.

The Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya and Al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia are in densely populated areas that have been hit hard by airstrikes and ground operations.

Israel says the hospitals are located in combat zones and claims that armed groups in Gaza are using civilian sites, including hospitals, for military purposes. Hamas, which governs Gaza, denies these accusations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has condemned the evacuation orders, stressing that hospitals must be protected during conflicts. “Hospitals should never be targets of war,” said a WHO spokesperson.

International organizations are raising alarms about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Over 2 million people in the region are already facing severe shortages of food, water, and power.

As the conflict continues, global leaders are urging both sides to de-escalate and prioritize the safety of civilians. For now, the people of Gaza remain in desperate need of help, with few safe options left.
