A tragic school shooting took place on February 4, 2025, at Campus Risbergska, an adult education center in Örebro, Sweden. Authorities reported that five people were shot, with several fatalities confirmed.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. local time. Emergency services rushed the injured to the hospital, where four underwent surgery, and one remains in critical condition. Police believe the suspected shooter is among those hospitalized.

Following the attack, nearby schools were placed on lockdown as law enforcement secured the area. Authorities are currently investigating the incident as attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offense. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed deep sorrow, calling it “a painful day for all of Sweden.” Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer also condemned the violence, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety.

Campus Risbergska primarily serves adults who have not completed their primary or secondary education. While Sweden has strict firearm regulations, incidents like this are becoming a growing concern.
