As voting concludes for the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, exit polls indicate a strong performance by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), posing a serious challenge to the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
According to the poll of polls, which aggregates multiple exit polls, BJP is projected to secure between 40 to 45 seats, while AAP is expected to win 25 to 30 seats. The Congress, which has struggled in Delhi for years, may end up with 0 to 2 seats.
This shift in electoral dynamics comes amid allegations of corruption against AAP’s leadership, particularly Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP, leveraging these accusations, campaigned aggressively on governance and law-and-order issues. On the other hand, AAP focused on its welfare schemes, including free electricity and education reforms, but exit polls suggest it may not have been enough to counter BJP’s push.
If these projections hold, it would mark a significant political shift in Delhi, which has been under AAP’s rule since 2015. However, exit polls are not always accurate, and the final results, set to be announced on February 8, 2025, will determine whether Delhi witnesses a BJP resurgence or if AAP manages to hold on.
For now, both parties remain on edge, awaiting the final verdict.
