Gurugram – REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC Limited, has officially handed over three transmission projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The transfer includes Banaskantha Transco Limited, Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited, and Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited.
The handover ceremony took place in Gurugram, where Shri T.S.C. Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, handed over the Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to Shri Pankaj Pandey, Executive Director of PGCIL, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL, and Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.
PGCIL emerged as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB)process conducted by RECPDCL. These projects, developed under the Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) model, aim to enhance power transmission capacity across key regions.

- Banaskantha Transco Limited
- Location: Banaskantha (Raghanesda), Gujarat
- Scope: Augmentation of transformation capacity with 2×500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs
- Estimated Cost: ₹143.35 crore
- Kurnool-IV Transmission Limited
- Location: Near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh
- Scope: Establishment of a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220 kV Kurnool-IV Pooling Station
- Transmission Lines: 375 km (Kurnool-IV to Bidar) and 127 km (Kurnool-IV to Kurnool-III)
- Estimated Cost: ₹4,727.05 crore
- Rajasthan V Power Transmission Limited
- Location: Rajasthan
- Scope: Evacuation of power from Sirohi (2 GW) and Merta-II (2 GW) substations
- Estimated Cost: ₹4,736.23 crore
The implementation timeline for all three projects is 24 months, and they are expected to boost electricity transmission efficiency and meet growing energy demands. The initiative marks a significant step towards improving India’s power infrastructure through private sector participation under government supervision.
