RECPDCL Transfers Ratle Kiru Power Transmission Project to IndiGrid 2 Private Limited

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has successfully handed over the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the ISTS Transmission Project to IndiGrid 2 Private Limited. The transfer marks a significant step in the development of power transmission infrastructure, aligning with the Ministry of Power’s vision to enhance energy connectivity.

IndiGrid 2 Private Limited emerged as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, which acted as the Bid Process Coordinator. Under the Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) model, IndiGrid 2 will now undertake the responsibility of developing and operating the transmission project.

The project, known as Ratle Kiru Power Transmission Limited, involves the construction of a 150-kilometer-long 400 KV transmission line between Samba in Jammu & Kashmir and Jalandhar in Punjab, along with a 35-kilometer 400 KV line between Kishenpur and Samba. The initiative includes other associated works essential for strengthening the power transmission network in the region. With an estimated cost of ₹1,407.44 crore, the project is expected to be implemented within 24 months, ensuring the timely enhancement of electricity transmission capabilities.

The official handover ceremony took place in Gurugram, where Shri T.S.C. Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL, transferred the SPV to Shri Puneet Singh Chauhan, Vice President & Head (Commercial) of IndiGrid 2 Private Limited. The event was attended by senior officials from RECPDCL, IndiGrid 2 Private Limited, and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.

This transfer represents a key milestone in India’s power sector, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving energy infrastructure through private sector participation. By leveraging the TBCB model, the project is set to provide a reliable and efficient power transmission network, contributing to energy security and economic growth in the region.
